OVERVIEW
________
This door was written with Ted Freemans fabulous Dframe(c)modules
This ZIP file was created using the -AV function of PKZIP. If
my AV is missing then this file may not be complete of has been
tampered with. Complete and current editions of this program
are always available for D/L on Terminal Entry BBS. If the AV
is missing please complain to your sysop to stop the practice of
removing AV's as this is your assurance from the programmer that
the file is complete and virus free.
INSTALLATION
____________
*** TimeUp Trivia needs the Brun45.exe in your path!! ***
** You ****MUST**** run Install.com to install or upgrade TimeUp Trivia **
Installation is fairly easy and straight-forward. The following steps and
examples should have you up and running in a very short period of time.
It is assumed that you are familiar with setting up DOORS on your system.
To this end, only examples of the configuration file and Door batch file
are described.
1) Make a directory for TimeUp Trivia
2) Place the TimeUp Trivia zip file in that directory
3) Unzip the TimeUp Trivia zip file then type install! Thats it!
4) Create your DOOR.BAT file to execute the door...
Follow this sample DOOR.BAT file if needed:
@ECHO OFF -----------------> Turns the Echo Off
CLS -----------------------> Clears the Screen
CD\WC30\DOOR\TIMEUP -------> Change to your BBS's Node home directory
TIMEUP TIMEUP.CFG ---------> Run TimeUp King Door
CD\WC30--------------------> Go to the Main doors directory
C:\WILDCAT\CALLINFO.BBS ──┐<- For Wildcat!
C:\PCB\PCBOARD.SYS │<- For PCBoard using PCBOARD.SYS only
C:\PCB\USERS │<- For PCBoard using USERS only
C:\BBS\DOOR.SYS │<- For Systems that support DOOR.SYS
C:\BBS\DORINFOx.DEF │<- For QBBS/RBBS/RA. Replace x with Node #.
C:\BBS\USERINFO.DAT <- WILDCAT 3.0!
Terminal Entry BBS <- Your BBS Name
Alan <- SysOp's First Name
Bennett <- SysOp's Last Name
C:\PCB1\BULL\BULL25.SCR <- Path to your ANSI Bulletin
C:\PCB1\BULL\BULL25.BBS <- Path to your ASCII Bulletin
10 <-------------------> <- Maximum number of questions per day. The max
10 <----------------- per day is 3 until registered.After Registering
5 <------------- - the Max is 300.
WC3 <--------- - ---> <- Time to GIVE a user for a CORRECT answer. Mins
Y <----- - -
NO <- - - -------> <- Time to TAKE from a user for a INCORRECT answer
- - -
- - -----------> <- If this is a Wildcat 3 BBS type WC3 not type ??
- -
- ---------------> <- Toggle "Y" to let user logoff in door "N" to
- disable this feature.
-
-------------------> <- Enter the path to your Trivial Kings MASTER.DAT
file if you are running Trivial King 2.0 or
later. ex.(C:\DOOR\TRIVIAL\MASTER\MASTER.DAT)
If you are not running Trivial King on your
BBS then enter "NO" this will enable TimeUp
Trivia's 250+ question database. At anytime
that you wish to add 1500+ more questions to
your TimeUp Trivias database then grab a copy
of Trivial King 2.0 or later.
*****************************************************************************
Edit this .CFG file to suit your individual BBS. All 12 lines MUST
be present.
Line 1: This line points to where TimeUp.exe will find the callers
information file. Just include the line that your particular
BBS uses. DO NOT put all of them in the CFG file. Wildcat 3.0
users MUST use USERINFO.DAT and PCBOARD 14.x users MUST use
USERS.SYS.
Line 2: Place the name of your BBS on this line.
Line 3: SysOp's first name goes here.
Line 4: SysOp's last name goes here.
Line 5: Path to your Ansi Bulletins
Line 6: Path to your Ascii Bulletins
Line 7: Number of Questions per day.. The max is 3 if UN-Registered
After registering you can have as many as 300.
Line 8: Time to GIVE user "in minutes" with each CORRECT answer.
Line 9: Time to TAKE from user "in minutes" for each INCORRECT answer
Line 10: If this is to be run on a Wildcat 3.0 system then type "WC3"
if not type "???" or leave blank
Line 11: Toggle "Y" to let user logoff in door "N" to disable this feature
Line 12: Path to your Trivial Kings 1750+ question MASTER.DAT file or "NO"
to use TimeUp Trivia's 250 question database.
If you use the above CFG file be sure to remove all remarks and use
a pure ASCII editor such as EDLIN or QEDIT. Hidden control codes could
cause the program to depart for worlds unknown.
4) Create a batch file or modify the DOOR.BAT file supplied. A
description of this file follows:
ECHO OFF
CD \WC30\DOOR\TIMEUP
TIMEUP TIMEUP.CFG EXE filename and CFG filename
CD\WC30
5) When running in more than one node, be sure to supply a
different configuration name for each node (your choice of name).
EX: TIMEUP1.CFG TIMEUP2.CFG
TIMEUP TRIVIA has been tested under LIVECAT! and performs very well.
The only problem that has risen is the /5 or /7 irq in the Livecat
script file. So I recommend that you don't use it on a non standard
comm port while running Livecat.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TimeUp Trivia supports com 1-4 and irq 5-7 if your using the irq 5 or 7
just specify it on the command line when invoking the main door..
TimeUp TimeUp.cfg /5 or /7
This will let TimeUp Trivia run on a non standard com port..
The /5 and /7 represent the Irq setting on your serial card
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
